Spree Kingyo and I had a great time with our mid size camper van traveling around mid Honshu rural areas in a big circle. We went from the mountain to the pacific back to the mountain and to the sea of japan and back to the mountains and then finally to the pacific again! The trip was perfect, we did see less then a hundred other foreign tourists, all of them in Matsumoto and Kanazawa :-) We had many nice and friendly interactions with the locals and seem to have blended in well enough to raise more interest in us then shyness :-) Our love for Japanese culture seem to have helped even with only speaking very very little Japanese ourselves.
Great praise goes to the team at Japan Campers, Daishi, Maciek, Toshimi, Andre et. al. for being the perfect mix of quite, laid back, efficient, honest and helpful to make us want to return and do this again asap!
